The good ship Breitbart is taking on water fast, and the remaining crew are wasting in no time in firing upon any sailors caught making a run for it. Late Sunday, Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields resigned following her company’s refusal to stand up to the Trump campaign manager who grabbed her hard enough to leave a mark, going so far as to publish a report insinuating that she was lying. Her resignation was followed by the real shocker: Brietbart editor-at-large Ben Shapiro also turned in his resignation, saying in a lengthy statement:
Both Lewandowski and Drumpf maligned Michelle in the most repulsive fashion. Meanwhile, Breitbart News not only stood by and did nothing outside of tepidly asking for an apology, they then attempted to abandon Michelle by silencing staff from tweeting or talking about the issue. Finally, in the ultimate indignity, they undermined Michelle completely by running a poorly-evidenced conspiracy theory as their lead story in which Michelle and Terris had somehow misidentified Lewandowski.
Other Breitbart staff are rumored to be looking to make an exit as well. But for Breitbart’s part, it got right to publishing and then quickly deleting a bizarre, only sort of coherent post titled Ben Shapiro Betrays Loyal Breitbart Readers In Pursuit of Fox News Contributorship, which read in part: “It was business as usual for the ambitious conservative gadfly, who is known to live on the edge, courting and then leaving a series of companies over the past several years.”
