Trump Campaign Manager Charged With Battery

Screen Shot 2016-03-29 at 2.41.04 PM

Corey Lewandowski, the Donald Trump campaign manager who allegedly ex-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, is facing battery charges. Lewandowski turned himself over to authorities and been released with a notice to return for a court date. The charges are being brought by the Jupiter, Florida Police Department.

The altercation allegedly took place on March 8 at a Trump campaign event, long known for their quiet gentility and spirit of familial peace. Lewandowski, Trump and Fields’ former employer all denied the event took place, despite stark video evidence to the contrary.

The police themselves seem pretty sure it happened.

They also released surveillance footage released of the incident that seems to verify Politico’s audio transcription of the incident.

So Lewandowski is apparently not telling the complete truth, which is not exactly a daisy fresh strategy for the Trump campaign, but they’re sticking to their story. Trump, the world’s greatest respecter of women, has spent most of the day tweeting about Lewandowski’s innocence and how, if you think about it, Fields is really the one that should be charged with battery here.

He also accused her of changing her account of the events, although he hasn’t been able to explain how. Here’s Fields’ initial description of the event, as cited by Trump over Twitter.

And here’s the statement she gave to police, according to their written report:

After she asked the question, she felt someone yank her left arm. She added that she fell back but caught herself from falling.

In closing, Lewandowski will be represented by Kendall Coffey, who was—as Gawker notes—fired from from his job as federal prosecutor in 1996 for biting a stripper.

New Pod Flow: Scribble & Jam, “Artist Matthew Perryman Jones”

Welcome to Episode IV. This week, Dan spends some time with his favorite singer/songwriter, Matthew Perryman Jones. Matthew and Dan talk about panic attacks, growing up in Atlanta, the way music is informed by pain and suffering and the way music gives freedom.

If you have spent any time watching television in the last decade you have most likely heard one of Mattew’s songs on shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill and many others. His insightful writing and voice have drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley, and he is on the short list of songwriters who skillfully weave the deeply philosophical and the vivid utterly human without ever losing sight of either.

To get his new album Cold Answer, (which features the three songs from him you heard on this episode), visit MPJmusic.com.
