Person with failed political career predicts failure of Paul Ryan’s political career.

Sarah Palin was not playing around when she promised to defeat Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. On CNN’s State of the Union, she pronounced Republican congressman’s unceremonious decline from politics. Why? Ryan won’t cave in to his party’s endorsement of a loud, bigoted, aspiring despot. No, no, not Duterte. The other guy! With the orange skin? C’mon, you know who I’m talking about. From CNN:

“I think Paul Ryan is soon to be ‘Cantored,’ as in Eric Cantor,” Palin said, referring to the former Republican House majority leader who was ousted in a shocking upset in 2014 when challenger Dave Brat ran to his right in a Virginia primary.
“His political career is over but for a miracle because he has so disrespected the will of the people, and as the leader of the GOP, the convention, certainly he is to remain neutral, and for him to already come out and say who he will not support is not a wise decision of his,” Palin continued.

Palin is a vocal supporter of Donald Trump by supporting his opponent: Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen. Nehlen has no experience in office and is an unlikely candidate to usurp the sitting congressman’s seat in the House of Representatives. But, he’s got a pretty sweet bike:

Palin added, “If the GOP were to win now, that wouldn’t bode well for [Ryan’s] chances in 2020, and that’s what he’s shooting for.” Palin last served in office in 2009.

New Pod Flow: Scribble & Jam, “Artist Matthew Perryman Jones”

screen-shot-2016-09-02-at-8-28-21-am-1

Welcome to Episode IV. This week, Dan spends some time with his favorite singer/songwriter, Matthew Perryman Jones. Matthew and Dan talk about panic attacks, growing up in Atlanta, the way music is informed by pain and suffering and the way music gives freedom.

If you have spent any time watching television in the last decade you have most likely heard one of Mattew’s songs on shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill and many others. His insightful writing and voice have drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley, and he is on the short list of songwriters who skillfully weave the deeply philosophical and the vivid utterly human without ever losing sight of either.
